Tail Rot
Serious Injuries with an Infection
The main reason I stress to dragon owners about multiple dragons in the same cage is because of the injuries that can occur, often when they are unsupervised. Bearded dragons will NEVER be able to grow back a body part that has been bitten off. Not only do these injuries look terrible they put your dragon at risk health wise. Bites can cause Tail-Rot. Tail rot is the term used when a bearded dragon tail tip darkens and gets infected. If tail rot is not caught early enough this could spread and eventually the tail may fall off and the infection could spread and the dragon could die. Tail rot can be caused by bites to the tail or toes, but also by the tail tips not shedding properly. If you think your dragon has tail rot contact a reptile vet specialist in your area.
